During the bilateral meeting, the leaders of the UK and France agreed to deepen cooperation on illegal migration between the two countries. This initiative will lead to measures targeting criminal groups trafficking across the English Channel. The countries also committed to involving neighboring states in the later stages of the initiative.

On 14 November 2022 the United Kingdom and France issued a joint statement on strengthening cooperation in the fight against illegal migration. This statement includes a joint strategy and a new integrated approach. Among the main goals is the deployment of French personnel to strengthen patrols in the Channel.

At the recently relaunched UK-France summit, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and French President Emmanuel Macron announced that the UK would provide a total of €541 million to allow the deployment of additional French law enforcement personnel along the Channel coast to stop illegal migration.
