During the first EPC Summit, the UK expressed an interest to re-engage in the North Seas Energy Cooperation and sign a Memorandum of Understanding with North Seas Energy Cooperation (NSEC) members. NSEC’s main objective is to ensure sustainable, secure and accessible energy supply for its member countries, in particular through the development of an offshore grid.

On 18 December the UK Minister for Energy and Climate Graham Stuart signed an agreement on renewable energy cooperation with EU and North Seas countries. In the document, the sides declared their intention to cooperate in the field of offshore renewable energy, in particular wind energy. The cooperation is also aims to facilitate the planning and development of specific projects, including offshore grids. According to the memorandum, cooperation between the members of the NSEC and the UK will include technical expert dialogue, and exchange of information on best practices.
